“When you put everything together—the athleticism, feel, command, projection, and presence—he's one of the more exciting high school arms I've evaluated in recent years.”
Very impressive look today while getting an up-close evaluation at Yokohama High School. He worked with confidence, showed a powerful fastball with very little effort, and reminded me of a young Roki Sasaki in terms of the ease of his delivery. Compared to April, he's clearly creating more separation and touched 95 mph despite throwing around 70 pitches. He also appeared to be experimenting with different breaking balls before the qualifying tournament.
Calm and composed on the mound knowing all the attention is on him. Competed extremely well with an effective four-seam / slider / cutter mix, advanced pitchability and intangibles on the mound. Repeats a smooth delivery with low effort. Shows confidence and poise on the mound.
High-slot right-hander with a fastball already up to 152 km/h (95 mph), projecting a potential ceiling of 160 km/h (100 mph). Clean arm action with above-average arm speed. Lean, highly projectable frame with significant physical upside remaining. After observing his warm-up and mobility work, his standout trait is his elite flexibility, which was clearly the best among players on the national team. His looseness and range of motion translate directly into arm speed and overall projection. His physical traits and flexibility are reminiscent of a young Roki Sasaki. That said, Sasaki showed a larger frame and superior overall pitch quality at the same stage, highlighting both the upside here and the development still required to reach that level.
